Burlington Youth Can Help Shape Local Volunteering

Young people in Burlington who volunteer, or who have tried to and never found the right fit, get a say in what comes next. Community Development Halton is running a Youth Volunteer Design Lab on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Burlington Lions Club, 471 Pearl St.

The session is open to anyone aged 14 to 24 and is built around three questions: what motivates young people to volunteer, what gets in the way, and how community organizations can better support youth leadership. The answers feed into the volunteer opportunities and youth leadership programs that Community Development Halton and the Burlington Lions Club build next.

Pizza is provided, and everyone who takes part receives volunteer hours in exchange for participating.

Finding the right placement for a young volunteer is the hard part, which is the whole reason the lab exists. Registration is through Community Development Halton.
