New Self-Guided Tour Follows Burlington's Waterfront History
The lake shaped how Burlington grew, and there is now a route that walks you through the proof. Heritage Burlington has released the fourth edition of its self-guided Heritage Driving Tour, this one following the waterfront from the Royal Botanical Gardens east to the Burloak and Lakeshore area.
The tour takes in 35 stops, each with a historic place and the story attached to it, covering how the shoreline turned from working waterfront into the parks and promenades people use now.
It is built to be flexible. The full route is meant to be driven, but any section of it can be walked or cycled instead, which suits the stretch through downtown and Spencer Smith Park where parking is the harder part.

Heritage Burlington publishes the tour as a PDF with the full route, every location and the points of interest, available free from the Burlington Historical Society event page. No registration, no set date, no cost.
