Steam-Era Returns to North Halton Over Labour Day Weekend
Steam-Era is back at Hume's Auction Farm in North Halton over Labour Day weekend, running Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7. It is a short drive north for anyone in Burlington and one of the longest running heritage machinery shows in the country.
The Ontario Steam and Antique Preservers Association puts on the weekend, and the draw is watching the machines work rather than sit. Gas engines, steam traction engines, antique tractors and vintage cars all run live, alongside tractor games, threshing competitions and steam powered equipment displays.
This year's feature theme is the evolution of Oliver, tracing Nichols and Shepard through Hart-Parr to Oliver. Collectors are invited to bring their Hart-Parr and Oliver tractors, though every make is welcome on the grounds.
Early bird tickets are $10 until August 23, then $15 at the gate, with a $35 weekend pass available on site. Kids 12 and under get in free. Anyone who buys early goes into a draw for a Weber Searwood pellet grill, with $400 and $200 in Maple Lodge Farms Chicken Shop coupons as second and third prizes.
Gate hours
Friday, September 4: noon to 5pm. Saturday and Sunday: 9am to 5pm. Labour Day Monday: 9am to 4pm. Tickets are on the Steam-Era website, and volunteers can email volunteer@osapa.ca for open positions.
