Play It Again Sports Opening on Appleby Line in Burlington
A new Play It Again Sports is opening at 2080 Appleby Line, giving Burlington a place to buy and sell used sports and fitness gear again.
The old store on Dundas Street in the Longo's plaza closed suddenly in March 2025 without much explanation, and the closure left a gap in the local secondhand sports market. Anyone with a bin of outgrown skates or a treadmill taking up half the basement has had nowhere close by to turn it into cash.
The new shop buys as well as sells. Play It Again Sports buys gear all day, every day, with no appointment needed, and pays on the spot or puts the value toward a trade-in for the gear you need now. Staff assess what comes through the door and are trained to fit athletes across the categories the store carries.
Each Play It Again Sports is individually owned and operated, so the money spent at the Appleby Line store stays with a local owner. Buying secondhand also keeps usable equipment out of the landfill, which matters in a sport like hockey where a kid can outgrow a full set of pads in a season.
