Nostalgia Games Cafe Has Closed For Good

Nostalgia Games Cafe has put the games back in the box. The Burlington coffee shop and board game hangout served its last regular day on Friday, threw a going-away party on Saturday, and is now closed for good.

The sticking point was occupancy. The cafe could only let a limited number of people in at a time unless it added more bathrooms, and paying for that work was beyond what the business could carry. Owners Sophia and George spent the past month looking for a way around it, including a GoFundMe campaign with a $50,000 target to cover the renovation.

The fundraiser did not save it. "Having looked into the situation even further and carefully examined our options, we have made the difficult decision to close our cafe," they wrote on Facebook, thanking the people who had supported the shop over the years and especially over the past month.

Anyone who chipped in to the GoFundMe is getting the money back.
