Halloween Skelebration Runs Weekend Evenings at Mountsberg Until October 31
The night walk is the reason to go. Mountsberg Conservation Area lights a trail through an Invasive Zone, a Graveyard of the Undead, a ghostly pirate ship and a giant pumpkin, and families walk it after dark with flashlights. Halloween Skelebration runs Friday through Sunday evenings, 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., until October 31.
Thanksgiving weekend is one of the exceptions. The event runs Friday and Saturday, then takes Sunday, October 11 off before picking up the following weekend.
Beyond the trail there is a haunted barn, a family friendly fortune teller, guest appearances from Mountsberg's snakes and raptors, the farm animals in the barn, campfires and a natural playground. A new scavenger hunt turns kids into Junior Eco Guardians hunting emblems to win back the guardians' powers, and the treat at the end of it is nut free. Costumes are encouraged, and there are no jump scares anywhere in the event.
Admission for non-members is $23 for adults and $19 for children aged 5 to 14 and seniors, with children 4 and under free. Members pay $17 and $15. Parking is included. A wagon ride through the dark woods costs $6.50 a person and is booked at the gift shop once you are there, first come, first served, and dogs cannot ride along.
Skelebration happens at Mountsberg Conservation Area in Campbellville, about half an hour up from Burlington. Bring a flashlight and dress for standing around outside in October!
