Burlington Fall and Winter Program Registration Opens Aug. 20

Burlington Fall and Winter Program Registration Opens Aug. 20

The City of Burlington's fall and winter recreation programs are posted online, and registration opens in two waves next week. Adult programs go first on Wednesday, August 20 at 7 a.m. Youth programs, fall swimming lessons and the fall and winter Aquatic Leadership courses open Saturday, August 22 at 9 a.m.

Non-residents can register for anything still available starting August 28 at 9 a.m. The full catalogue has been up for review since August 12, so you can build your list before registration opens and go straight to checkout rather than browsing while spots disappear.

New this season

Several programs are running for the first time, most of them aimed at younger kids. Baking Adventures is a drop-in for ages 3 to 5 with a parent or caregiver, mixing and measuring together. Have a Ball is a preschool sports program built around rolling, throwing, kicking and catching. Little Builders Club and Animal Adventure Club cover ages 1 to 4, and Turbo Tots runs obstacle courses and soft play for the same age group with a caregiver taking part.

Older kids get some new options too. Pixel to Paper is a game design studio where participants build characters, storylines and levels entirely on paper, with no screens involved. There is a Youth Social Gaming Club with multiplayer tournaments on Nintendo Switch and Xbox, a Youth Book Club running weekly discussions and reading challenges, and Future Ready, a life skills course covering resumes, interviews, budgeting, professional emails and summer job searches.

Two others worth knowing about: Adaptive Move and Play welcomes participants of all abilities with a support person, and Stroller Fit is a low-impact indoor fitness class for caregivers who bring the baby along. The city also runs an expanded recreation fee assistance program for families who need help covering costs.
