Brant Hills library branch closes until September 13 for community centre construction

The Brant Hills branch of Burlington Public Library closes on Monday, August 10 and stays shut until Sunday, September 13. Construction at Brant Hills Community Centre is the reason: crews have to finish additional structural reinforcement before the new heating and cooling system can go on the roof. This is the branch's second closure this summer.

The book drop is closed as well, so returns have to go to another BPL location. The nearest are Tansley Woods at 1996 Itabashi Way and Alton at 3040 Tim Dobbie Drive.

Family storytime keeps running outdoors through the closure, every Wednesday from August 12 to September 9, 10:30 to 11 a.m., near the playground by Brant Hills Public School. It is aimed at children five and under, and a lawn chair or blanket is worth bringing. If the weather is bad, an indoor storytime at another branch is the fallback.

Kilbride branch is also closed and reopens September 8. That one is shut for safety reasons while the Halton District School Board finishes infrastructure and accessibility upgrades at Kilbride Public School, work that affects the shared entrance and the library's exterior wall. Alton is the closest open branch, and Kilbride customers taking part in the Summer Reading Club are being pointed there.
