Burlington Named a Bicycle Friendly Community for 2026
Burlington is one of eight Ontario municipalities named a Bicycle Friendly Community this year, an award handed out at the Ontario Bike Summit.
The award covers more than bike lanes. The city was recognized for its cycling infrastructure along with the depth of its community engagement, its policy work and its education around riding safely.
For anyone already on two wheels, the network is the practical version of the news. Burlington has more than 50 kilometres of multi-use pathway running alongside local roads, plus roughly 31 kilometres of off-road path, including the Centennial Trail.
Those paths are what the award is built on, and they are open whether or not anyone is handing out trophies. Fall riding weather does not last much longer, so use it while it holds.
