Burlington's Art Walk Returns August 30 at Lion's Park

More than 50 artists, entertainers, artisans and educators are setting up in Lion's Park on Sunday, August 30 for the sixth annual Elizabeth Gardens Creative Collective Art Walk. The show runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 471 Pearl St., and admission is free.

Alongside the booths there is live music through the day, a scavenger hunt, demos and displays, and a collaborative community art installation that visitors can add their own touch to. Past editions have run interactive stations where members show techniques like acrylic pours, rock painting and chalk murals.

How it started

The Collective came together in 2020, when local artists, makers and educators wanted a way to stay connected through the lockdown. Early meetings happened in person at St. Elizabeth's Church, where members worked side by side on stained glass, acrylic painting and mixed media.

The first Art Walk followed in 2021 on the church lawn, paid for with a city grant. It has moved to bigger outdoor venues since, including Burloak Waterfront Park and Mohawk Park, and Lion's Park is new this year. The group is still volunteer run, and it takes in artists at every level, from career professionals to people picking up a paintbrush for the first time.

Visitors can browse and buy original work, watch demonstrations, and take part in hands-on activities suited to all ages. The park is easy to reach on foot, by bike or by transit.
