The Secret Path Cushion Concert w/ Kate Dickson & Shannon Thunderbird

An afternoon of discovery, storytelling, and teachings from the First Peoples, led by respected community Elders Kate Dickson and Shannon Thunderbird.
Attendees can participate in traditional drumming, learn a traditional craft, experience dance, and reflect on teachings woven through stories and song. The afternoon is structured as a welcoming drop-in experience with craft activities, storytelling, and interactive drumming. Craft supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kate Dickson is a Coast Ts'msyen First Nations speaker, singer, drummer, storyteller, and workshop facilitator. She was among the first educators in Ontario to teach a full semester of Indigenous Studies at the high school level and is a member of the Indigenous Advisory Circle to the Mayor of Burlington.
Shannon Thunderbird is a Coast Ts'msyen First Nations speaker, workshop facilitator, singer-songwriter, recording artist, author, and playwright. Thunderbird founded Teya Peya Productions, which offers Indigenous-based educational and entertainment programs bringing people from all cultural, social, and economic backgrounds together in a spirit of truth and reconciliation.
The Gord Downie & Chanie Wanjack Fund (DWF) team will be on site, offering an opportunity to learn about their work building cultural understanding and creating a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. BPAC has supported DWF since its first year and continues its commitment as a supporter and ambassador.
