eat make share - At the Museums of Burlington
Visit two Burlington museums in one day: Ireland House and the Joseph Brant Museum.
The day begins with a guided tour and hearth baking workshop at Ireland House museum. Participants should bring a bag lunch to eat alongside the treats made on the hearth.
After lunch, the group will travel to the Joseph Brant Museum for a brief presentation and to explore eat make share: a taste of immigration, an exhibition created by the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
Ireland House at Oakridge Farm was the home of Joseph Ireland, one of the area's earliest settlers. Several generations of the Ireland family lived at the farmstead until 1985. The City of Burlington now owns and operates the museum, which has been restored to represent three distinct periods: the 1850s, 1890s, and 1920s. Located at 2168 Guelph Line, Burlington, ON L7P 5A8.
The Joseph Brant Museum, located at 1240 North Shore Boulevard East, Burlington, ON L7S 1C5, is a community space dedicated to Burlington's history and development. The venue hosts travelling and temporary exhibitions.
Registration includes admission to both museums, guided tours, and the baking workshop. A service charge is extra and non-refundable. Participants must be at least 15 years old.
Attendees must provide their own transportation or carpool. Burlington is accessible by GO train on the Lakeshore West line. Tickets are on sale until July 6.
