ART & Español: Monarch in Acrylic & Ink · Bilingual Art Class

Slow down, create a vibrant monarch butterfly, and unwind — guided in English & Spanish. No experience needed, just curiosity. Create and connect in a relaxed art session — in English and Spanish. Join us for an afternoon of mindful, bilingual art-making at Williams Fresh Cafe.

In this beginner-friendly class, you'll create your own monarch butterfly resting on a flower, using acrylic markers and a selection of ink and gel pens. You'll explore how to apply colour and build patterns. Every fall, monarchs travel from Canada to the forests of central Mexico, arriving around Día de Muertos.

We'll share a bit of that story and the visual traditions of the Americas connected to this motif. This isn't about making it "perfect." It's about slowing down, enjoying the process, and giving yourself two hours to simply create.

Everything is guided step by step, in both English and Spanish, so you can follow along in whichever language feels most like home, or use it as a chance to practise another language if you feel like it.

What you'll do: Apply colour, outline, and fill the shapes with beautiful patterns — a relaxing, almost meditative process anyone can enjoy. What's included: You'll take home: y our finished artwork, a pattern guide, a new way to relax, and maybe a few new words in Spanish.

Facilitated by Alana Lumi , a Latin American illustrator who loves sharing the calm and joy of pattern-based art. She'll walk you through every step, in both languages . Important: This is a relaxed, alcohol-free space designed for focus and calm. Coffee, tea, and treats are available from the café.
